Palermo is 2,700 years old and is considered to be the most conquered city in the world.  Its beauty and strategic location made it extremely attractive to powerful Kingdoms and Empires.

It is located in the northwest of the island of Sicily, right by the beautiful homonym Gulf.

Founded in 734 BC by the Phoenicians, it then became a possession of Carthage, before becoming part of the Roman Republic, then later of the Roman and Byzantine Empire for over a thousand years.  Following the Norman reconquest, Palermo became the capital of the Kingdom of Sicily and then capital of the Holy Roman Empire under Frederick II.  It then has been united to the Kingdom of Naples and, much later, to the Italian Republic.

World famous for the extraordinary wealth of its museums and architectures, it is also very special for the quality of its food, that can be also tasted on the streets in a very unusual local way.

Its history, together with its unsurpassed lemons and oranges cultivations,  make it the most symbolic Mediterranean city.
